For more than 25 years, we have been developing and manufacturing durable, aesthetic, and technically sophisticated sun protection solutions. Our goal: to use innovative strength, precision craftsmanship and genuine passion to design outdoor spaces that offer protection and comfort. We accompany our customers on their journey to a better outdoor experience, greater comfort, and ultimately more joy in life.

As an independent, second-generation family business, we feel a close connection to Germany and our region. That is one of the reasons why all our products are manufactured entirely in Germany. Careful craftsmanship, well-thought-out solutions and sustainable values are the basis of our company – and our products.

Company history

1998: The sun rises in Ludwigslust.

Where better to begin our story than where the sun first touches the earth in the morning? 1998 marks the starting point – we lay the foundation for Lewens Sonnenschutz GmbH in Ludwigslust.

We made our mark with the first support tube awning, followed shortly afterwards by the Family series. Not only as the start of our product portfolio, but also as a clear commitment to functional and aesthetic sun protection solutions.

Italian flair for German patios.

In 2004, our Toscana full cassette awning received an award for its design, which is not only beautiful but also cleverly conceived. It is an award that makes us proud, but above all, it is confirmation of what drives us: transforming quality, functionality, and form into aesthetic sun protection solutions.

Lewens upgrade for the façade

With the development of our Micro 850 and Micro 1000 vertical screen awnings, we expanded our portfolio with a particularly versatile solution. Zip technology ensures taut fabric tension, high wind resistance, and clean lines.

2009

Color makes the difference.

Since 2011, we have been in control of the color design. With our own powder coating facility, we coat our products ourselves – in exactly the colors you want. This not only creates a durable surface, but also one that is individually tailored, combining quality and durability.

And suddenly everyone wants to sit in a glass house.

In 2012, we opened a new chapter: with the first Murano glass roof systems, we expanded our portfolio with a solution that combines protection and openness in perfect balance. Technical sophistication meets precise customization – made for people who want to enjoy their outdoor space in any weather. A glass roof that not only provides cover, but redefines space.

Autumn and winter follow spring and summer

At the international trade fair R+T in 2015, we present two additions to our Murano system: elegant sliding glass elements and integrated lighting. Completely protected and atmospherically lit, the patio becomes a year-round space.

2015

Lewens grows and grows and grows.

A new administration building is constructed that is more than just a workplace: modern offices, our own canteen, and a roof garden become places for meeting, exchanging ideas, and thinking together. At the same time, production grows – with 3,000 m² more space for quality, precision, and progress.

2017

Our product range expands.

We start the 2018 season with many new products in the area of awnings and glass roofs.

2018

Our business areas are united in the Murano Integrale ZIP.

At the beginning of the 20th century, we introduce our Murano Integrale ZIP – a glass roof with an integrated awning. The system combines weather protection and sun protection in a solution that requires no additional installation height. Precise ZIP technology ensures seamless shade, while the clean design sets standards in architectural integration. A product that quickly becomes a bestseller – because it meets the requirements of planners, specialist dealers and end customers alike.

2021

More than an anniversary – a promise for the future.

2023 – a year of reflection and new beginnings. For 25 years, we have been designing sun protection solutions that combine functionality and aesthetics. An anniversary that fills us with pride – and at the same time directs our gaze forward. With the Positano weather protection pergola, we are setting new standards: for greater comfort, for timeless design, for an outdoor experience that blends seamlessly into modern living spaces.

Double the protection.

With the Micro Doppio, we are sending a clear signal for the future of sun protection: two parallel fabrics in one system open up new possibilities for comfort and shade. During the day, the combination provides flexible shade – and in the evening, the second fabric can be used as optional insect protection.

In times of climate change, rising temperatures, and increasing insect populations, the Micro Doppio is more than just a technical detail. It is a response to real needs: more quality of life, more peace and quiet, more freedom outdoors.
